The neighborhood in where I live is in the desert part of California. To be more specific, Littlerock in the Antelope Valley. The name practically describes how it looks like, dirt, desert, tumble weeds and dust devils. My neighborhood has lots of horses, cattle, and it is not odd to see plantation fields or farms. Littlerock has definitely changed throughout the years. I know for a fact that population has gone up, property over here is cheaper therefore many people decide to move here from the valley. I lived in San Fernando as a child and moved to Littlerock like many other people did. And because everything here is cheaper it is not uncommon to see movie productions. Even in my old high school an Adidas commercial was filmed, and in many near by roads movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were filmed. I remember driving by the Transformers set but not really knowing what was happening. But what I absolutely love about Littlerock is that everything is so tranquil, and the sound of cars and traffic is nowhere near. But with every good thing there is something bad, and what completely irritates me about this place, the fact that there is nothing to do here. Meaning, the mall is literally a good half an hour away and so is the nearest movie theater. As a teenager, there was nothing to do with my friends, we couldn't just simply walk to the store or anything like that. And it was extremely common that, as soon as we were of age we would get our license because you can't get around without a car, it is impossible with the nearest liquor being a few miles away. Then there is the weather, the cold is colder and the heat is hotter. The mountains are very close and the town is very high (in altitude) so snow is possible. But honestly that is the best part of the winter, knowing that there is a chance we can build a snow man. When you see the snow outside, the roads look white and the trees disappear, that is when the Christmas spirit truly comes out. But the in summer, it's not odd for the temperature to go over 100 degrees, with the sun blazing it could get frustrating. But besides everything, I like it here, after a long day in the city the desert can be very calming.
